Soul Words
A boy is walking down a road with tears rolling down his face. The street is in the suburbs of a miniature city with a hardly any lights here and there, it is dark, but the moon isn’t quite out yet. There are houses about medium in size, with a diversity of cars parked in the driveways. On the sides of the street, a scarcely any houses have TVs and lights on, but majority of them solely have a porch light on. A blue car pulls up next to him with the passenger side window down, we watch one more boy.
“Come on Paul, acquire in the car, let’s go back to my house and we can talk.” the lad in the car says.
“No, u do not want to talk, you do not like talking, remember?”
“Please, just acquire in. We can just sit here and talk, if you still crave to go home, I’ll drive u there, deal?”
“Fine, but remember, this was your idea, Jake.”
Paul receives into the car and closes the door. Jake rolls up the window and pulls over to the right side of the road. The radio is on and tuned into a pop station. Paul wipes his eyes with his left sleeve, still sniffling a bit sitting closer to the door than to Jake. Jake starts to say something then stops, leaving his mouth open and ending up blowing air out of his throat in a half disappointed sigh.
“I thought u wanted to talk.” Paul says quietly, nearly like he’s feeling defeated.
“I do, I just don’t,” Jake sighs, “I just don’t know what to say.”
“You told enough back at the house. u don’t like me the same way, even after everything.”
A tear rolls down the side of Paul’s face.
“I said I didn’t know if I do or don’t, I just desire a little time to figure things out. That did not mean I wanted u to leave.”
“Well I thought it was the more good choice. I did not crave to vigour you to select and when we’re jointly I cant stop myself from wanting to be close to you.”
They both go silent, the song ends and the radio host announces the next song. Jake reaches over and turns off the radio. Paul relaxes into the seat, puts his seat belt on, and looks at Jake with a mixture of pain and affection in his eyes.
“I like being around you Paul, even the cuddling is nice, ‘coz it is with you. it is just what if anybody finds out and can’t keep their face hole shut or somehow we give ourselves away? I don’t crave to be pegged as the 2 fags.”
Paul cringes at the word fags.
“I don’t care if someone finds out, I like you, a lot Jake. If you like me also then great, if not then drive me home and forget about it. I’ll just crawl into a black aperture and disappear.”
“I don’t desire to hurt you, but I don’t crave to be disowned and a social outcast either. I’ll drive u home, but do not think i’m saying no.”
“Sure.”
Jake pulls back onto the road and drives a hardly any blocks, turns left and drives down to the second house on the right and pulls into the driveway of Paul’s abode. Paul receives out and walks into his house.
Jake sighs and pulls out driving back home.
“How did this acquire so drilled up?”
~Twelve hours prior~
Paul and Jake are walking down the hallway of a typical high school, lockers on the one and the other sides, other students of varying ages hustling around, getting into lockers, chatting with friends, etc. They stop at their lockers which are merely a small in number away from each others.
Jake says, “So, my parents are going to be gone, again, and I need somebody to hang out with for the weekend, desire to come over?”
Paul giggles and says, “Sure, as long as there is actually food this time, I don’t wish to try to cook again.”
“Haha, yeah, the freezer is stocked with the necessities, hawt pockets, burritos, and pizza rolls. Plus there is snacks and soda galore.”
“Sweet, am I riding with u then or do you crave to pick me up at my house?”
“I can give u a ride,” Paul blushes. “Brett’s going home with his girlfriend today.”
“Her parents truly trust him sufficiently to let him come over?”
“Haha, yeah, moreover he is all talk.”
“True.” Paul smiles.
The warning bell rings.
Jake says, “See you in English,” and smiles walking away.
“See ya,” Paul says as a smile lights his face and walks to class.
